ADC Externo 02 Presents “Form and Gesture”

Exhibition-ADC-ESPOL-FADCOM-External Galleries

FADCOM’s ADC 002 Outdoor Gallery presents “Figuration and Gesture,” an exhibition created by students in the Painting Techniques course for the PAO I-2026 semester, under the guidance of Professor Billy Soto, Ph.D.

The exhibition features watercolor exercises on cardstock, in 20 × 20 cm formats, based on the observation and interpretation of various environments selected by the students themselves.

The exercise posed the challenge of moving beyond literal representation to explore the expressive possibilities of watercolor. Gesture, washes, transparency, layering, and the synthesis of form become resources for constructing personal interpretations of the observed space.

Each work reveals a unique approach to the environment, where color and varying degrees of definition allow the artist to transform what is observed into a personal visual interpretation.

“Figuration and Gesture” proposes understanding watercolor not only as a representational technique but as a tool for observing, selecting, interpreting, and constructing a personal reading of the environment.

The exhibition is part of the ADC External Galleries program, spaces dedicated to showcasing the academic processes and results of FADCOM students.
