ESPOL students take part in the first edition of the inter-faculty video game tournament

Students from the Faculty of Art, Design and Audiovisual Communication (FADCOM) are taking part in the first edition of the inter-faculty video game tournament organised by the GGspol student club, an initiative that aims to strengthen the gaming community and foster social interaction within ESPOL. The tournament’s opening ceremony took place on Friday 15 May 2026, from 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm, in Building 11C, Laboratory 108, where the competition format, the participating video games and the schedule of activities for the event were officially presented.

During the event, members of GGspol shared their vision for the tournament and explained how this initiative aims to establish dedicated spaces for esports and digital culture within the university. Furthermore, attendees took part in team-building activities and prize draws for Steam cards, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and engagement amongst students from different faculties.

The presence of FADCOM students at this tournament reflects the faculty’s interest in the new creative and digital industries, where entertainment, communication, interactive storytelling and technology converge. Beyond the competition itself, gaming becomes a meeting place that fosters skills such as teamwork, strategy and collaborative interaction.

With this first edition, GGspol is promoting a student-led initiative that opens up new opportunities for the development of activities related to video games and esports within ESPOL, enriching university life through innovation and digital culture.
