Michael Arce Sierra, M.Sc., a lecturer in Graphic Design at the Faculty of Art, Design and Audiovisual Communication (FADCOM) at ESPOL, presented his research at the 14th Ecuadorian Conference on Information and Communication Technologies (TICEC 2026), held on 15 and 16 October 2026. The paper, entitled “Pedagogical Relevance of Interactive 3D Augmented Reality Children’s Storybooks: Learning Experiences in Emerging Economies”, explores the pedagogical relevance of interactive children’s storybooks using 3D augmented reality and their potential to create learning experiences in emerging economies.
The research lies at the intersection of design, technology and education, and examines the role that interactive narrative resources can play in children’s learning processes. By incorporating three-dimensional elements and augmented reality, this type of approach enables the exploration of new ways of presenting educational content and encourages children to interact with the stories. Arce Sierra’s participation in TICEC 2026 contributes to the academic exchange on the possibilities of integrating emerging technologies into educational settings and highlights the importance of researching the pedagogical applications of interactive digital resources.
