What happens when cinema is no longer defined by its synopsis and begins to be interpreted based on its underlying ideas? This is the question addressed by Research in Mythology, Philosophy, and Science, an academic exhibition developed by students enrolled in the Audiovisual Research course, part of the Media Production program at FADCOM, under the guidance of professor Jorge Lombeida.
The exhibition presents a research poster that brings together the analysis of three commercial films, approached from the mythological, philosophical, and scientific concepts that underpin their construction. Instead of summarizing the plot, the academic exercise focuses on identifying and explaining the conceptual idea that gives rise to each work, highlighting how these ideas permeate contemporary audiovisual language.
The work is complemented by a transmedia approach: each poster includes a QR code that links to a video hosted on YouTube, where the research is expanded upon and the findings of each film are presented from the three dimensions of study. In this way, the exhibition connects the physical medium with the audiovisual content, reinforcing skills in analysis, synthesis, and communication
The exhibition is on display at Espacio ADC1 – Galería G001, located in building 14B of FADCOM, and is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The opening will take place on Tuesday, January 13, at 12:30 p.m., as part of the academic activities for the period
This proposal reaffirms the value of research as a creative and educational tool, demonstrating that analyzing cinema from its conceptual foundations allows for the training of professionals with discernment, capable of understanding, producing, and questioning the audiovisual content that circulates in today's cultural industry.
