ESPOL’s Faculty of Art, Design, and Audiovisual Communication (FADCOM) brought a selection of projects developed by its students to Manzana 14 as part of “Espacios ADC Itinerantes,” an initiative that seeks to bring design proposals developed in academic settings to other spaces and audiences throughout the city. The exhibition opened on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Manzana 14, located at 9 de Octubre Avenue and Pichincha Street, and remains open to the public Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The opening ceremony was attended by M.Sc. Antonio Moncayo, along with professors Diana Macías, Ariana García, and Mónica López, who were present for the exhibition’s opening. Representing the university was Andrés Jastay, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Teaching, who participated in this gathering that brought together the university community, the design community, and the general public. The exhibition brings together three projects that explore different approaches to design, identity, and visual communication: “Surfing Coastal Archetypes,” “Drawing as an Expanded Language,” and “Social Typographic Posters.”
“Surfing Coastal Archetypes” explores elements of coastal cultural identity through surfboards, symbols, shapes, color, and brand archetypes. The project was led by professor Mónica Robles. Meanwhile, “Drawing as an Expanded Language” presents an approach to drawing that transcends paper and experiments with different materials, media, and tools, including paint, ceramics, wood, and artificial intelligence. The project was led by instructor Víctor Cantos.
The third project, “Social Typographic Posters,” uses typography as a tool to communicate and spark reflection on contemporary social issues. The project was supervised by professors Ariana García and Diana Macías. Through this exhibition, the projects move beyond their usual educational settings to engage with new contexts and audiences. The initiative allows the students’ work to be observed, interpreted, and experienced outside the classroom, creating new opportunities for dialogue between design, culture, and the public.
“ADC Itinerant Spaces” thus represents an extension of FADCOM’s exhibition spaces, bringing academic work to other venues and strengthening the circulation of design and visual creation proposals. The exhibition can be visited at Manzana 14, on 9 de Octubre Avenue and Pichincha Street, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
