The Faculty of Art, Design and Audiovisual Communication (FADCOM) at ESPOL presents the exhibition ‘Audiovisual Research’, an academic exhibition that demonstrates how research from different fields of knowledge can serve as raw material for filmmaking. The exhibition is based on a premise: audiovisual production can draw on diverse sources of research, including mythological, philosophical and scientific concepts, which enable the development of ideas, narratives and worlds for future film productions.
Using this methodology, the students carried out research focused on three feature-length film projects: one based on mythology, another on philosophy and a third on science. Each proposal demonstrates a process of conceptual exploration prior to the creation of a cinematic work.
To complement the exhibition, visitors can use a QR code to access an explanatory video that provides further information on the research process and offers a deeper insight into the work carried out. The exhibition brings together the projects of students from the participating cohorts – 16 students in Cohort 1 and 18 students in Cohort 2 – as part of an academic exercise that links research, narrative and audiovisual production.
The exhibition will be open until 18 September 2026 at ADC1 G001, from 09:00 to 14:00. Through this project, FADCOM highlights the importance of research prior to creation and of understanding audiovisual production as a process that combines critical thinking, conceptual exploration and narrative construction.
