As part of its commitment to artistic education and access to creative experiences, the School of Art, Design, and Audiovisual Communication (FADCOM) organized the Atrios Stop-Motion Workshop, a one-day event aimed at young people on the autism spectrum, who explored the basic principles of frame-by-frame animation through hands-on visual storytelling activities.
The workshop took place on Friday, July 31, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., at FADCOM’s Motion Lab, and was led by Iria Clavera and Juan Sebastián Mosquera, who guided participants through the process of creating a short animated sequence using everyday objects. During the workshop, attendees worked with cell phones, laptops, and the professional software Dragonframe, a tool widely used in the stop-motion animation industry. Through this experience, they learned the basic stages of planning, capturing, and constructing movement using frame-by-frame photographs.
In addition to technical training, the workshop fostered creativity, observation, collaborative work, and imagination, allowing participants to experiment with new forms of artistic expression in a dynamic and participatory environment.
Through initiatives like this, FADCOM reaffirms its commitment to inclusive education, creating spaces where art, technology, and innovation become tools to enhance learning and bring the creative industries closer to diverse audiences.
