Starting January 15, 2026, FADCOM presents Encounters on Canvas and Paper, an academic exhibition showcasing the outcomes of the Pictorial Techniques course, taught by Daniel Castelo, M.Sc.
The exhibition brings together exercises developed during the second term of PAO 2025, highlighting the technical and conceptual learning achieved by the students. The show is structured around two clearly defined technical axes. In acrylic, the works explore the materiality of pigment and painterly gesture. Through textures and fragmented brushstrokes, students reinterpret classical compositional structures, prioritizing the interplay of light and chromatic dynamism on the canvas.
In watercolor, the journey shifts to paper through exercises in synthesis and transparency. Portraits and landscapes are resolved through layering and water control, allowing depth and detail to be addressed from a more introspective perspective. Encounters on Canvas and Paper demonstrates the students’ progressive technical mastery and their ability to move between the density of acrylic and the subtlety of watercolor.
This process consolidates fundamental foundations for the application of painting in fields such as editorial design, illustration, and art direction, where an understanding of color and composition is essential.

The exhibition reaffirms the value of the classroom as a space for experimentation and rigor, where technique becomes language and process becomes shared learning. The exhibition will be open to the public Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and is on display at ADC1 Space – Gallery G001, Building 14B, FADCOM.
