FADCOM students present ‘Face to Face’, an exhibition developed as part of the Drawing II module, under the supervision of lecturer Alla Kondratova. The exhibition centres on the human face and body – elements that have long held a central place in artistic representation and which enable artists to address themes related to identity, society and personal experience.
Through a variety of characters and visual concepts, the students experimented with watercolour, acrylic, tempera and mixed media, using each medium to construct their own unique interpretation of their models and characters. The exercise enabled them to explore different styles, formats and pictorial possibilities, emphasising each student’s personal choices regarding the representation of the body and the face.
In this way, ‘Face to Face’ brings together different approaches to a single theme and demonstrates how the same figure can take on different meanings and expressions depending on the technique, composition and perspective of the artist.

FADCOM recognises the students’ commitment throughout the development of this project and their willingness to experiment with different painting techniques and develop a personal perspective on the representation of the human figure.
