From the classroom to the workplace: FADCOM students present strategic solutions to real-world challenges in the business sector

Proyecto de Diseño FADCOM ESPOL

The Design Project module, led by lecturer Andrea Pino, saw her students tackle one of the most significant challenges of their professional training: designing solutions to real-world problems posed by companies from various sectors.

The initiative brought together the future designers with guest organisations to develop proposals aimed at solving challenges in areas such as human resources, internal and external communication, sales logistics, technical services and organisational management, demonstrating that design can generate value beyond marketing and advertising. During the presentation day, representatives and executives from companies such as Belleza María José, Lanec, Kronos Laboratorios, Opevial S.A., Aceros Austin, Rohayhu, Bimbo and OneGroup took part as assessors and reviewed the proposals developed by the students.

The projects were presented by the teams Sikma, Axis, Cuarzo, Yucra, Nexus, Gambi and Hub, who outlined communication campaigns and strategies tailored to the specific needs of each organisation, integrating research, analysis and strategic thinking to address real business challenges. For lecturer Andrea Pino, the experience was a source of great satisfaction, highlighting the level her students had achieved.

‘Seeing the managers and executives so fascinated by the technical aspects filled me with immense pride. It made me feel incredibly nostalgic to see my students there; I saw myself reflected in them, remembering when I used to be in their shoes, with that fear of making my debut but with the firm conviction that we were ready to take on the world.’ Experiences like this strengthen the practical training of FADCOM students, enabling them to develop professional skills in scenarios that closely mirror the real world of work, forge links with the business sector, and understand the impact that design has as a strategic tool for organisations.

Through initiatives such as the Design Project, FADCOM continues to promote an education based on solving real-world problems, strengthening the link between academia and industry, and preparing professionals capable of generating solutions that make a real difference to businesses and organisations.
