Mexican composer Joaquín Lichtle visited the Faculty of Art, Design, and Audiovisual Communication to present his lecture "Music in Hollywood: The Rise and Development of Music Scoring in the Film Industry." During the talk, he shared his experiences and knowledge gained throughout his career in film music composition.
Lichtle began by analyzing compositions from classical authors such as Gustav Holst and Igor Stravinsky, and how they have influenced film scores throughout history. He also explored the creative use of sound in films like "Birdman" and "Joker."
A particularly valuable contribution for the attendees was his review of the technical processes involved in scoring for Hollywood films and the criteria a composer must consider to seamlessly integrate melodic details within a scene, thereby evoking the desired emotions in the audience.
