The Multiformat Creative Services Center of ESPOL’s Faculty of Art, Design, and Audiovisual Communication (FADCOM) participated in SOSTENIA by ESPOL with an innovative booth built primarily out of cardboard, demonstrating how design can become a tool for driving sustainable, high-impact solutions.
The project was developed by FADCOM students under the guidance of Professor Francesco Magnone, using cardboard as the primary material thanks to sponsorship from Cartorama, a strategic partner that provided the necessary supplies for constructing the exhibition space. The project highlighted the potential of recyclable materials for creating functional, durable temporary structures aligned with the principles of the circular economy.
During the fair, the booth showcased projects developed by Product Design students in various courses, allowing visitors to learn about the creative process and the school’s ability to generate solutions applied to real-world problems.
As part of the event, “Alquimia Plástica”—FADCOM’s sustainability project—was also presented through its partner EcoHome, which demonstrated the process of transforming plastic bottle caps collected during Tapatón 2026 into new materials with the potential for manufacturing prototypes and products.
The participation was coordinated by Multiformato, the Creative Services Center, led by Professor Carla Caicedo, Mgtr., and Yostin Mera, Mgs., a unit that develops creative solutions for companies and institutions in the public and private sectors through projects carried out by the university. FADCOM’s presence at SOSTENIA reaffirms its commitment to education based on innovation, industry partnerships, and the development of initiatives that integrate design, sustainability, and knowledge transfer.
