The exhibition “From the Frame to the Story: Photographic Narratives Constructed in Sequence” is on display in the ADC 1 space at FADCOM–ESPOL. The exhibition has been developed by students on the Media Production degree programme as part of the Digital Photography module, under the supervision of lecturer Daniel Castelo. The exhibition brings together a series of photographs conceived as key art pieces for existing film and television productions. By analysing their narrative worlds, visual codes and atmospheres, the students created images capable of encapsulating a work’s identity and generating anticipation about the story it represents.
The process integrated digital photography, art direction, graphic design and visual narrative. To develop their proposals, the students used the spaces on the FADCOM campus as a creative laboratory and made decisions regarding concept, framing, lighting, colour, costumes, props and staging. Each of these elements was treated as a narrative device to guide the interpretation of the image. In this way, the photographs do not merely seek to reproduce a scene, but to construct a new gateway into the universe of each story, drawing on the visual language of posters and promotional campaigns from the audiovisual industry.
The exhibition aims to explore photography as a tool for narrative construction, where light creates atmospheres, composition organises meaning, and every visible element contributes information to a story that continues beyond the frame. From an academic perspective, this exercise enabled students to integrate various skills related to audiovisual production and to experiment with the creation of characters, atmospheres and narrative situations based on a single image. The exhibition can be viewed at ADC 1, FADCOM–ESPOL, Monday to Friday, from 09:00 to 16:00.
