Students on the Digital Photography course at the Faculty of Art, Design and Audiovisual Communication (FADCOM) took part in an academic seminar focusing on the analysis of Generative Artificial Intelligence and its impact on contemporary photography, alongside lecturer and researcher Karen Vinueza, who is undertaking her doctoral research as part of the PhD programme in Arts and Education at the University of Granada. The event provided a first-hand insight into the research and creative process that the lecturer is pursuing in relation to AI applied to the visual arts.
Through an interactive discussion, attendees reflected on the transformation of photographic practice, from traditional technical processes to the new possibilities offered by digital synthesis for image creation. During the event, topics were addressed relating to the ethical, creative and professional challenges posed by artificial intelligence in visual production, fostering a space for critical analysis that strengthens the training of future design and communication professionals.
Initiatives of this kind complement students’ academic education by introducing them to current research and the trends that are redefining the creative industry, preparing them to tackle new technological scenarios with an innovative and responsible approach.
