Dr. Jorge Polo published his latest book last December, titled *Romantics and Racists: The Ideological Origins of Spanish Ethnonationalisms*. The book, published by “El Viejo Topo,” was presented in Spain on December 10 in Madrid and on December 15 in Barcelona.
Polo notes that the research and writing of the book took approximately a year and a half, beginning in 2020. He considers the topic he addresses to be controversial and linked to certain situations related to Spanish politics. “But it is not a book about present-day Spain. In reality, it is a book on history, philosophy, and political theory. For example, in the first chapters, the reader will find an analysis of Romanticism, an important aesthetic and philosophical movement of the 19th century. They will also find a genealogical history of racist ideas, and many other topics,” says the Ph.D. in Philosophy from the Complutense University of Madrid.
Polo is a professor at FADCOM and one of ESPOL’s most prominent researchers. He has authored several books and articles published in specialized academic journals.
