Ashley Avilés, a Graphic Design student at the Faculty of Art, Design and Audiovisual Communication (FADCOM) of the ESPOL, won first place in the Illustrated Design Competition, organised by the creative platform Think.

Ashley stood out among dozens of participants by submitting a visual proposal that was selected as the winner in this edition of the competition. The illustration entitled ‘Aceptando el tiempo’ is a vector work that represents the emotional process of learning to accept the rhythms of life. In it, a young woman appears surrounded by a clock from which branches emerge, a symbol of the inner growth that comes with experiences and the passing of time.

The piece conveys serenity and resilience, and suggests the story of someone who has lost a friend and who, over time, has found ways to cope with that absence. The visual metaphor highlights that everything, even pain, can blossom into wisdom. As recognition, she received a key tool for her professional development: an iPad, a device that will enhance her creative and academic work.

The student decided to participate independently, without her proposal being linked to any subject. Her motivation was clear: to have a digital tool to support her growth as a designer. Ashley submitted her proposal on 23 April 2025, was selected as a finalist on 25 April, and was officially notified as the winner on 27 April 2025.

The result was published on Think's official Instagram account, where the winning projects are displayed: Click here to find out more.  "Aceptando el tiempo"

This recognition is evidence of the level of academic training and professional commitment that distinguishes FADCOM students. It also highlights the autonomous management capacity of their projects and the quality of the creative talent trained at ESPOL.
