‘Rescue of Ancestral Knowledge and Empowerment of the Artisanal Circular Economy’ is a community project that focused on promoting traditional artisanal practices in the canton of Samborondón, highlighting the craft of pottery, an activity that has been the economic livelihood of several families for decades and that currently faces challenges due to industrial modernisation and the commercial use of materials.
The project led by Victor Cantos, M.Sc, was developed through various activities, such as photographic registration and the compilation of audiovisual material for the promotion of handicraft products on digital platforms. In addition, training in clay modelling techniques was provided to the community.
In 2023, the ‘Leyendas de Barro’ sculpture was installed in a community area in the canton of Samborondón to commemorate the pottery trade as part of the local identity, and was managed by 12 companies and municipal funds.

This project seeks to preserve ancestral knowledge and transfer it to future generations, promoting handicraft products through training that contributes to improving the visibility of artisans, thus strengthening the circular economy.
