FADCOM begins the 2026-2 semester with a day of creation and experimentation together with POSCA

The Faculty of Art, Design, and Audiovisual Communication (FADCOM) at ESPOL began the 2026-2 academic semester with a day dedicated to creation, graphic experimentation, and engagement with representatives from the creative industry. The event featured the presence of Mónica Oyola, CEO of POSCA; Luis Castro, CEO of Uni Mitsubishi Pencil; and Gonzalo López, Marketing Director of POSCA, as part of POSCATOBER, an initiative that promotes creative exploration and experimentation through the use of POSCA markers. The meeting took place on Monday, September 28, in the inner courtyard of FADCOM's Building 14B and centered on the inauguration of two exhibitions showcasing different approaches to drawing, illustration, color, and graphic experimentation.

Expanding Geometries

As part of the event, the exhibition “Expanding Geometries: form, colour and creative exploration with POSCA markers” by Billy Soto was opened. The exhibition explores the possibilities of form, colour and composition through geometric structures, patterns and various interventions on the surface. The use of POSCA markers allows artists to work directly on surfaces and broadens the scope for graphic experimentation.

POSCA Laboratory

Also presented was “POSCA Laboratory”, an exhibition developed by FADCOM students on the Illustration Workshop course, under the guidance of lecturer Daniel Castelo. The process began with literary, journalistic and narrative texts, which were analysed and transformed into illustration proposals. The students went through stages of research, conceptualisation, sketching and experimentation until they developed the final pieces, created using traditional techniques with POSCA acrylic markers.

The event also gave students an insight into POSCA’s experience and creative world, creating a space for discussion on the possibilities these tools offer within the fields of illustration and graphic design. With this activity, FADCOM kicks off the 2026-2 semester, placing experimentation, artistic production and learning through practice at the centre, in dialogue with initiatives and leading figures from the creative industry.
