The Faculty of Art, Design, and Audiovisual Communication (FADCOM) is opening the exhibition La Tribu Guayaca, an art installation created by students in the Design Workshop I, course, which transforms recycled paper and cardboard into a project inspired by the power of nature, Guayaquil’s identity, and sustainable design.
The exhibition, which will run from August 7 to October 30, 2026, in the lobby of FADCOM’s Administrative Building 14A, features a clan of primates crafted from recycled materials. The installation is led by an orangutan approximately two meters tall, accompanied by two 1.5-meter sculptures and several smaller monkeys distributed between the ceiling and the floor, creating an immersive experience for visitors.
The project was developed by 33 students in Design Workshop I, who applied principles of composition, volumetric construction, and experimentation with reused materials to bring to life an artistic proposal that invites reflection on the relationship between humans, nature, and responsible consumption.
Through this exhibition, FADCOM fosters spaces where learning extends beyond the classroom, allowing students to integrate creativity, environmental awareness, and artistic expression into projects that engage with the university community.
