The Fortican project took first place in 5MinPitch 2025, a space where our students put their talent and innovation to the test. Fortican, developed by Doménica Chávez and Nicolás Álvarez, Product Design students, consists of a body system that protects dogs from canine attacks. Designed with resistant materials and using the Design Thinking methodology, it guarantees safety and ergonomics, making it a proposal with great potential for market impact. During the event, Graphic Design projects were also presented, such as the visual communication strategy for ASPYBAND, and Media Production projects, such as the short film País de campeonas (Land of Champions) and the feature film Año Nuevo, Año Viejo (New Year, Old Year). 5MinPitch and the IDEAR Fair reaffirm that student creativity at FADCOM knows no bounds: this is where solutions for a more humane, inclusive, and sustainable future are born.

Narratives of Light and Color
This exhibition presents a collection of digital photography that explores the expressive power of lighting and color in advertising and fashion portraits. Each image reveals how light shapes emotions and color amplifies the visual identity of each composition.
Tales of the Forest
A series of digital photographs inspired by myths and legends, where nature becomes the central axis of the narrative. Through dreamlike atmospheres and visual symbolism, this exhibition invites us to rediscover the connection between the human and the natural.

A new edition of the Poster Competition 2025 – 1st Edition was held at FADCOM! Our students from the Applied Research in Design course presented their projects through academic posters, showcasing their creativity and commitment to social and cultural issues. The competition was held in three parallel sessions, guided by professors Nayeth Solórzano, Luis Rodríguez, and Lissenia Sornoza. The students demonstrated that applied design research is a powerful tool for innovating and transforming our society.

The exhibition, developed in the Graphic Design I course under the direction of professor Mónica Robles, M.Sc., presents a set of functional graphic supports that pay tribute to prominent figures in Ecuadorian sports, role models who marked a before and after in various disciplines. Through original illustrations and patterns, the students have designed a kit consisting of: Six playing cards A sports pennant A soccer ball Each element seeks to convey, through visual rhetorical devices, the stories and values that characterize these icons of national sport.

We enjoyed an unforgettable concert: Andrew Lau's voice and Giorgi Kutev's piano took us from Neapolitan music to the Spanish repertoire, culminating in a unique tenor version of the pasillo “Manabí.” A musical encounter that will remain in the memory of our faculty.

The Audiovisual Research course presents the project “Research in Mythology, Philosophy, and Science,” a proposal that takes an in-depth look at cinema as a tool for exploring key concepts in these disciplines. Each group has worked on three representative films: One based on mythology One focused on philosophy One related to science The posters include information about the title, year, and director of the films, as well as the mythological, philosophical, or scientific approach developed.

The Faculty of Art, Design, and Audiovisual Communication of ESPOL held the inaugural event of the exhibition “La Bella Figurina, del fin de las utopías al renacer de las retrotopías,” by the renowned artist Mariella García Caputi. The event was attended by the Vice Rector for Research, Development and Innovation, Carlos Monsalve, Ph.D.; the Dean of FADCOM, Nayeth Solórzano, Ph.D.; and Sub-Dean Carlos González, M.Sc. The authorities present highlighted the importance of the exhibition for the academic and cultural community.

Students of the subject “Drawing I” of the Faculty of Art, Design and Audiovisual Communication of the ESPOL presented the exhibition “Game of Geometric Forms”, an exhibition that presents a variety of works in technical drawing applied to art.
The works presented, which integrate precise techniques in artistic creation, were directed by teachers Da Hee Park, Byron Cortez and Billy Soto. They guided the students to merge the rigor of technical drawing with the expressiveness of art in two-dimensional and three-dimensional works.

The “New Vanguards” project is an educational initiative in which 35 students from FADCOM's Art and Science course have integrated fine arts concepts with contemporary scientific theories. The presentation was guided by the teacher Jacqueline Mejía, M.Sc., who led the students in the research and creation of their projects, which were presented before a jury composed of professionals in the graphic arts area.
